Abandoman

Irish improv/musical duo Abandoman are quite unlike any other acts on the comedy circuit today, which could be why they managed to take out the highly competitive Hackney Empire New Act contest for 2010.

Based on audience suggestions, hip-hopper/improv comedian Rob Broderick and singer/guitarist James Hancox create weird and wonderful (and completely spontaneous) songs. Their previous off-the-cuff works have included a series of complaint letters to Haribo done in the style of Eminem's 'Stan' and a song about the different strange things female audience members have in their handbags.

The boys have also successfully taken their act to the Fringe in previous years and are often accompanied by percussionist Camilo Tirado.
