Al Murray

Al Murray is well-known for his persona of 'Pub Landlord', a stereotypical xenophobic, sexist barman. His base jokes  revolve around slurs against women or anything 'un-British'.
Catchphrases include "All hail to the ale!", "...beautiful British name!", and "Pint for the fella... Glass of white wine for the lady!"

Murray's break came in 1994, when he was invited to compere in Harry Hill's Edinburgh show Pub Internationale, and created the pub landlord character. He has since gone on to have hugely successful theatre shows including My Gaff, My Rules which was short-listed for an Olivier Award in 2002 and has appeared in character as the central focus of the television series Time Gentlemen Please. He has been nominated for the Perrier award more times than anyone else and eventually won it in 1999.

Is he a genius? Or too close to the bone? Is he lampooning nationalists or providing them with an acceptable, jolly face? I dunno, his stuff is blimmin' funny though. Maybe that's all that matters. But maybe not!
