Daniel Kitson is something of a legend in the comedy industry, due to his ability to perform both stand-up and theatrical story shows with awesome verbal dexterity and comedic skill. He has won various awards in his career over the last decade including a Perrier Award in 2002 for his show
Something and a Barry Award at the 2007 Melbourne Comedy Festival for his show
It's The Fireworks Talking.
Even in his earlier gigs which were opinionated, sweary and mostly observational; it was always the anecdote that Kitson excelled at, weaving stories and characters with an impressive mastery of the English language.
His theatrical shows are outstanding and come into a category all of their own, as writer, story-teller and comedian amalgamate to create a witty yet poignant piece of oration. As Kitson has said about his unique style: "Melancholy is lovely, it stays with you longer; it's a more substantial meal than just laughs."
