Ed Aczel, who found fame as Jimmy Carr's favourite comedian on
Comedy Idol 2005, has a very unique sense of humour, reflecting a 'less is more' theory. His act is anti-comedy to the extreme, subverting the idea that a confident and cohesive stream of gags is the best way to get laughs. His first show
Do I Really Have To Communicate With You? scooped the Malcolm Hardee Award for comic originality at the Edinburgh Festival in 2008.
Usually accompanied by a flip chart and notes written on his hand, subject matter can range from the Spanish Armada to debates on who was the best Beatle. A truly original comic whose apologetic, totally unstructured and almost unwilling performance can reduce a whole audience into hysterics.
