Since quitting university in 2003 and choosing stand-up comedy for a career, Jon Richardson hasn't done badly. After his first ever gig he won his heat of the
BBC New Talent Comedy Search. Within his first year he'd reached the finals of the J20-sponsored
Last Laugh competition and the semi-finals of the
Laughing Horse New Act competition. He quickly established himself on the circuit, and in 2006 completed a 60 date UK and Irish tour with Alan Carr and appeared on Paramount's
The Comedy Store.
His debut Edinburgh show,
Spatula Pad, was nominated for the if.comedy award for Best Newcomer at the 2007 Fringe; and in 2008 he won the Chortle Award for Best Breakthrough act. Recently he has been nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for his 2009 show
This Guy At Night. He currently co-hosts the Sunday morning show on BBC 6 Music with Russell Howard.
Richardson is a slick operator behind the mic, delivering stories about his life as an OCD-suffering misanthrope with the ease of a comedian who has been in the business for a lot longer than five years.
