Josie Long

In 1999, Josie Long won the BBC New Comedy Awards and came second in the So you Think You're Funny? competition at the Edinburgh Fringe. No mean feat for a 17-year-old and this was just the start. After finishing a degree at Oxford University she went on to win the coveted Edinburgh Comedy Award for 'Best Newcomer' in 2006.

She has a very amiable stage presence, no sarcastic tongue-lashing à la Jo Brand but rather an impassioned and inquisitive approach which at times veers off on surreal tangents. An intelligent girl, she is not afraid of delving into subjects like literature and art and exploring her obsessions with word games and appliqué.

Inevitably with interesting, alternative comedy, Josie has attracted a cult wave of fans who have been known to turn up to her shows wearing knits and badges on occasion. She is also regularly supported by some of the best comedians in the business like Stewart Lee and Robin Ince. 'Nuff said.
