Marcus Brigstocke

You might recognise Marcus Brigstocke as a talking head from programs like 'I loved 1983' and '100 Worst Chocolate Bars' or some such clip-based satellite TV program. He is also a talented stand-up who has performed at every Edinburgh festival since 1996 and his 2006 national tour 'Planet Corduroy' was a sell-out hit.

Brigstocke started his career in comedy while at Bristol University, as part of the Club Seals troupe alongside Danny Robins and Dan Tetsell and soon won the 1996 BBC New Comedian Award at the Edinburgh Festival. By 2005, he had his own topical BBC4 Radio show - The Late Edition - with 20 shows at the end of 2007. As well as a few travel documentaries, Brigstocke has appeared on Live from the Apollo, Have I Got News For You and News Knight alongside Sir Trevor McDonald. He has also acted in Simon Nye's BBC 1 sitcom The Savages, and played the cult hit character David Oxley in We Are History. On the big screen he has appeared in Richard Curtis' movie Love Actually as a Radio DJ interviewing the wonderfully jaded rock star played by Bill Nighy and filmed Beyond The Sea - The Life Story of Bobby Darin with Kevin Spacey.

He is well-known for his middle-class liberalist rants on such subjects as immigration and the congestion charge. Whilst he might not always have you rolling in the aisles, he has some brilliant observations which most people can relate to and clearly a seasoned pro at comedy; his intelligence and confidence always shines through.
