The self-description "the human car crash of light entertainment" on his MySpace pretty much says it all - Nick Helm is loud, in your face and comically painful.
His act consists of deliberately appalling jokes delivered in a loud, barking tone, then selling them with an overexcited enthusiasm that is undeserved, but childishly appealing. Example: "I won a swimsuit competition...I ate 27 swimsuits! Have it!"
Keep Hold of the Gold - his debut solo show in 2010 - was a runaway success; it received a smattering of glowing reviews from the critics and went on to enjoy a sell-out run in the West End. Helm then went on to star in
Russell Howard’s Good News and was nominated for ‘Best Show’ at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2011.
