Nick Revell

Nick Revell's first stand-up comedy gig was at the Comedy Store in 1980. Over the next twelve years he worked extensively on the expanding alternative comedy circuit, was a regular at The Comedy Store and Jongleurs and made many visits to the Edinburgh Fringe, eventually winning the prestigious Perrier award there in 1987 for his solo show.

From 1992, he stopped doing stand-up and instead performed theatre shows as well as writing for numerous radio and television shows including The Million Pound Radio Show (which he co-wrote and co-presented with Andy Hamilton) and contributions to Not the Nine O'Clock News, Naked Video, Three of a Kind and Drop the Dead Donkey. He also wrote two novels, House of the Spirit Levels and The Night of the Toxic Ostrich, and a stage play, Love and Other Fairy Tales which was highly successful with critics and audiences alike.

He returned to the stand-up circuit in 2003 and currently can be seen in clubs all over the country. He is a quirky stand-up; while the majority of his stuff tends to be smart observations, there are some surreal twists every now and then such as a bit from his 2007 show Sleepless about what the birds dawn chorus would sound like in English.  An experienced performer, his delivery is slick and to the point. Occasionally he'll cover an obvious topic like the British BBQ but this is clearly beneath him, once he gets onto more highbrow topics, he is in a league of his own.
