Pappy's

Not a political or sexist joke in sight with this three-man sketch group, made up of Tom Parry, Matthew Crosby and Ben Clark. Formerly known as Pappy's Fun Club until the group lost Brendon Dodds and renamed themselves, Pappy's are still as silly and boisterous as ever. Scenes and characters are mixed up with carefully woven chaos and have in the past included Abraham Lincoln's diary entries ("Emancipated the slaves today. Well done me!"), folk trio Marty, Mim and Julius (Caesar) and a hospital staffed entirely with undercover journalists.

In 2006, the team took their show to Edinburgh, where it went down a storm and was nominated for the if.comedy Award For Best Show (formerly Perrier).

If irreverent comedy is your thing, then you can find no better than Pappy's. With home-made props and a penchant for witty word-play that will please the nerds, this is good old school fun. Audience interaction is encouraged, and always makes for a unique, if slightly bonkers show. Have seen them twice and both times proceedings have culminated in a near-riot of laughter and madness. Brilliant.
