Pappy's Fun Club
Genres: Sketches
Not a political or sexist joke in sight with this four-man sketch group made up of Tom Parry, Matthew Crosby, Ben Clark and Brendan Dodds. Pappy's Fun Club does what it says on the tin; a silly, boisterous character-driven show with wacky costumes and witty songs. Scenes and characters are mixed up with carefully woven chaos and have included Abraham Lincoln's diary entries ("Emancipated the slaves today. Well done me!"), folk trio Marty, Mim and Julius (Caesar), a topless taxman with a child's cash register strapped to his head, and a hospital staffed entirely with undercover journalists.
In 2006, the team took their show to Edinburgh, where it went down a storm and was nominated for the if.comeddie Award For Best Show (formerly Perrier) followed by a nomination by Chortle for Best Newcomer 2007. Expect nonsense and energy, comparative to brilliant and idiotic trio We Are Klang.
