Stand-up comedian, writer and presenter Robin Ince is well known for his comedy night
The Book Club, which he began running in 2005. It got its name from Ince's attempts to read aloud from (and make fun of) various second-hand books which he encouraged the audience to bring in. The night proved to be so successful that Ince took it on a full UK tour in 2006 and it was subsequently nominated for the British Comedy award for 'Best Show' and won the Chortle 'Innovation Award'. In the same year, Ince was also given the Time Out Award for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy.
He has supported Ricky Gervais on his
Fame and
Politics tours, makes non-stop appearances at festivals and comedy clubs all over the UK and regularly features in several Edinburgh shows on annual basis.
His style is fast, funny and informative; covering topics such as religion, evolution, politics and topical news. A self-confessed geek, Ince has a knack for organising intelligent and interesting shows. One of the best and most hard-working stand-ups on the circuit today.
