Ross Sutherland

Comedic poet Ross Sutherland bridges the gaps between the two genres in the most interesting and experimental of ways. A former journalist who lost his job at the Manchester Metro and promptly got into performance poetry, Sutherland now performs all over London.

A pioneer of the 'live literature production', which encompasses poetry, stand-up comedy and visual multimedia, Sutherland's performances are characteristically absurdist. One show included a travelogue of British service stations, while another retold Little Red Riding Hood, replacing all the nouns with the word 23 places below it in the dictionary.

Above all, Sutherland is known for his charismatic stage presence - it's his ability to never take himself too seriously that allows him to pull off the utterly bizarre feats he does.
