Russell Howard

Bristol-based comedian Russell Howard is famed for his impressive improvisation skills which you can usually spot on BBC 2's 'Mock The Week'. Aged only 19, he got to the final of Channel 4's 'So You Think You're Funny?'competition with his fifth gig ever and has since been a hit pretty much everywhere he's been, including TV stints at Live At The Apollo for BBC1, Never Mind The Buzzcocks on BBC2, Law of the Playground on Channel 4, The Brits, The Fringe and The British Comedy Awards.

An impressive resumé indeed not to mention his first solo sell-out tour, Wandering, which led him to be nominated for an if.comeddie award in 2006. His second show Adventures has been another sell-out and his weekly slot on BBC6 Music is ever growing in listeners. Its unlikely this affable comedian is going to fade into the background anytime soon.

I love free stuff and often head to the numerous websites offering tickets for TV audiences throughout the week. About a month ago I headed to the UCL Bloomsbury for an Edinburgh preview taping for Comedy Central with Russell Howard as the host.

I had heard of him, seeing he's won numerous awards before the legal age of drinking in the US but all his tours were sold out before I could right-click save.

An extremely intelligent comedian, his approach is casual and friendly, never relying on crude or abstrct humour to keep the laughs coming.

Pretty much the boy-next-door, if your neighbour was cheeky, funny and willing to do anything, and I mean anything for a laugh.
