The daughter of exiled Iranian satirist, Hadi Khorsandi, Shappi has had an interesting childhood and frequently peppers her sets with colourful anecdotes about being a second generation immigrant.
Not all of her comedy is political though, she also talks about personal experiences (including her 2010 divorce from fellow comedian, Christian Reilly), and generational gaps.
Khorsandi has racked up a large number of high-profile gigs recently, including
Live at the Apollo and
8 Out of 10 Cats. She's also been named one of the Observer's 10 best female comics.
The feisty and flirty performer covers all topics with a light-hearted touch and has a chatty and friendly manner which endears her to audiences.
