Sol Bernstein, the 82-year-old Jewish comic is actually a creation by the somewhat younger Steve Jameson, based in Hackney. A late starter to stand-up, he became a comic aged 46 after the break-up of his third marriage and has since performed two successful shows
Almost Alive which won a Spirit of the Fringe award in 2003 and
Almost Alive II in 2004.
Bernstein's accent is classic Jewish-New York and his material, often observational and political, is strictly un-PC and peppered with rude Yiddish.
