The Kransky Sisters

The Kransky Sisters are an Australian phenomenon that are set to become just as famous over here as they are on home turf.

The three sisters: Dawn, Mourne and Eve Kransky live a very old-fashioned life and travel around in their battered old Morris Minor performing musical covers.  These are performed with their own special panache using tubas, musical saws and a 60's reed keyboard, not to mention a whole host of other bizarre instruments that pop up from time to time like toliet brushes and kitchen pots.

They perform covers of a wide range of eclectic music that they hear on the wireless at home such as Steppenwolf, Eurythmics, Sugababes and Talking Heads.  This is interspersed with darkly humorous tales from their homeland  which convey how blinkered their outlook is.

Their talents have won them The Bank Of Scotland Herald Angel Award 2006, The Melbourne Age Critic's Award, Australian Green Room award for Best Cabaret Ensemble, Barry Award Nomination and the prestigious Australian Entertainment Mo Award.

It's hard to decide which is funnier, the po-faced comic dialogue or the wonderful reworks of modern classics they play, but one thing is certain, they are a totally unique act that have been duly recognised for their talents and are well worth seeing if you get the opportunity.
