Tom Basden

It's difficult to get musical comedy just right; if songs are too long or inaccessible then people get easily bored. Tom Basden however has the perfect pitch, he performs short little ditties with silly themes (titles including 'The Girl With The Glass Eye' and 'I Used to Be Friends With Jack Bauer' should give you an idea of the material).

His 2007 Edinburgh Fringe show Tom Basden Won't Say Anything was an enormous success and garnered him the coveted if.comedy 'Best Newcomer' Award. He is a member of the British four man sketch group Cowards and starred with fellow member Tim Key in the short film The One and Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island which won the UK Film Council Kodak Award for Best British Short Film.

Basden has also written and performed in several TV and radio shows, including Jam and Jerusalem for BBC1, Hyperdrive for BBC 2 and The Milk Run for Radio 1. His play Party, which won a Fringe First award at Edinburgh in 2009, is currently being adapted into a four-part sitcom for Radio 4. Basden also appears in double act Freeze with Tim Key.
