Wilson Dixon is a character dreamed up by Jesse Griffin, one third of the Melbourne-based sketch team The Four Noels. Dixon is a country singer from Cripple Creek, Colorado who is not the sharpest tool in the box but can play a tune and sing about life at home, his family and love.
He has a good song that is nothing more than listing metaphors and subverting them but he pulls it off well and some lines particularly stand out: "Laughter is the best medicine - but try telling that to a kid with cancer." In between songs that mock redneck life, he has some cracking one-liners and throwaway musings - by no means just fillers to connect the songs.
Dixon is one of the better musical comedy acts around and can join the ranks of Ginger and Black, Flight of the Concords and Tom Basden.
