The DJ Food project was devised in 1990, based on the premise of supplying DJs with metaphorical 'food'.
DJ Food released the Jazz Breaks Series which consisted of a collection of breaks, loops and samples ideal for mixing, remixing and in keeping with the Ninja flavoured fusion of jazz and hip hop.
It is often wrongly assumed that DJ Food is a single artist - when in fact he is a moniker representing a whole wealth of DJs, producers and musicians. In the early Jazz Breaks days, DJ Food consisted of Matt Black and Jonathon Moore (Coldcut), who were gradually joined by Paul Brook, Paul Rabiger, Strictly Kev and Isaac Elliston.
'A Recipe For Disaster' was a move towards establishing an identity and subsequent albums including 'Kaleidoscope' featured a variety of artists including Bundy K. Brown and Ken Nordine.
Today, DJ Food is a solo project with Strictly Kev at the wheel.
