DJ Funk

Chicagoan DJ Funk grew up with Detroit techno, early hip-hop and most importantly his city's emerging house music as influences. From these beginnings he founded the Dance Mania label and pioneered the booty or ghetto house sound, essentially an amalgam of raw, fast rhythm tracks, sparse synth lines and very rude lyrics.

Funk seems to be enjoying a resurgence of popularity in Europe, with more play from DJs, more frequent bookings and remix commissions from labels like Ed Banger.
