Don Letts is credited for turning a whole generation of punks onto the sweet sounds of reggae when he was a DJ in The Roxy back in the late 70s.
It was then that he began to make the film which would launch his career as a producer and director: 'The Punk Rock Movie'. It is the only documentary on the UK punk scene which features The Sex Pistols, The Clash and other famous punk icons of the time.
The success of this film led to Letts directing over 300 music videos for a range of artists, from Funkadelic's George Clinton to Gil Scott Heron, Bob Marley to Lee 'Scratch' Perry.
He formed the band Big Audio Dynamite in the 80s with ex-Clash member Mick Jones. In the 90s he formed Screaming Target - a band who have received rave reviews for their only album 'Hometown Hi-Fi'.
Don Letts remains a highly accomplished reggae DJ who is much in demand, sticking strictly to the old and new school dub reggae he cut his teeth on.
The Westbury is proud to welcome British legend Don Letts. The original rebel dread is coming to join us for a night of funk, dub reggae and feel good tunes.
