Drop The Lime

New York's Drop The Lime started off spitting out slabs of noisy breakcore for the Ambush and Tigerbeat6 labels. Now he seems to be locked on to the UK urban underground post-jungle, leading to hook-ups with labels like South London's Rag & Bone.

His chopped-up, sample-heavy production style draws on 2-step, grime and lately the Niche or bassline house phenomenon, but has a stripped-down, warehouse feel.

Saw Drop The Lime at Lovebox earlier this summer (2008). When this was written, to be honest it felt like he was at most dabbling with bassline.

He seems to have come on a lot, though -- and is even spearheading the introduction of the sound to the US via the Trouble & Bass night. His DJing mixes it up with Baltimore club music, but couldn't be any more obviously smitten with the new export of our own ex-industrial cities.
