Geeneus
Garage veteran Geeneus helped found Rinse FM, the pioneering pirate and online radio station that achieved prominence by giving a platform to grime and dubstep artists. He is a DJ and producer, also using the aliases Wizzibit and Moonshine for his recorded work.
The 'Moonshine' name is given over to his 'funky' productions, a genre of urban music based on house and garage currently championed by Geeneus on Rinse and in his club sets. Although usually played alongside conventional 'funky house' (a combination often advertised as 'house and funky') it has developed a distinct sound.
Like funky producers Apple and DJ NG, Geeneus's sound is overall darker and more stripped down than the tag seems to suggest, and makes use of African- and Latin-derived rhythms.
