James Holden

Seminal bedroom DJ turned internationally renowned dance music innovator.

James Holden began producing ambient techno in his West London bedroom when he was still a teenager - and the life of a superstar DJ has kept him young. Seriously, this guy looks like a moody indie kid of 15.

His label, Border Community, is among the UK's most credible outfits producing spare, often ambient music that defies categorization. The label acts as a promoter for new computer toys and techniques, and Holden has sat himself at a gateway to new music, which he greedily sucks up and incorporates into his own productions.

As a party DJ, at The End and other clubs around the world, James Holden is always welcome, but never predictable. He eschews genres like Techno or House and prefers to play a collage of sounds designed to build you up, knock you down, and expand your mind...

Quite brilliant.
