Joker
Bristol's Joker has made a big splash as a DJ and producer of UK dubstep, often put in the same league as the likes of Skream and Plastician.
Emerging onto the scene with a moody, bleepy EP titled 'Earwax' in 2007 (he was only 18 then!), he's now top bill at grime/dubstep/drum and bass nights at places like the Rhythm Factory and Fabric. Whereas a lot of dubstep falls flat or feels nondescript, Joker's sound is more progressive, frequently utilising videogame synths or Detroit techno sounds.
His style doesn't stay fixed. It's somewhere between tech-house, glitch-hop and dubstep, and that's what lends it character.
