Louie Vega
Louie Vega is a world-famous DJ, label owner and producer who has been in the business for over 20 years and kick-started genres like soulful house. Growing up in the Bronx, Louie was surrounded by Latin music which is prevalent in his music today as well as a blend of hip hop, jazz and New York house.
In the late 80's, Todd Terry introduced him to Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez and they formed a partnership under Dope's Masters at Work label, producing innovative remixes for Tito Puente, Saint Etienne and Debbie Gibson. Vega also ran regular 'Underground Network' parties at New York's Sound Factory Bar, one of the first soulful house nights in existence. He set up label, MAW Records, with partner Gonzalez in 1995 which has since released countless dance anthems from the likes of Masters At Work, Roy Ayers, Jody Watley and India.
