A Cornishman of the early rave and techno school, Mr Vibert is one of the electronic music royal family.
Alongside artists Richard D James (Aphex Twin), Tom Jenkinson (Squarepusher), Mike Paradinas (µ-Ziq) and Chris Jeffs (Cylob), Vibert is credited with redefining the rules of electronic music during the IDM explosion of the early 90s. The common element in their approach was to assimilate hip hop and drum 'n' bass into the electronica they created. His sound is very unique and variable: wonky, acidic, IDM-based and often quite challenging to listen to.
He has a wild number of aliases; most famously Wagon Christ - under which he produces more ambient works - and Plug which has a lot of drum 'n' bass influences.
Other aliases include Spac Hand Luke, Butler Kiev and Amen Andrews. He's great.
