Paikan

Paikan began his musical career at the tender age of 5 and has played the guitar, sitar and violin for over ten years.

He became a DJ at a radio campus in Toulouse in 1997, playing Asian breakbeat, jungle, dnb, and electro house.  Now he leans more towards 60's and 70's funk, reggae and rock but the Asian influence is clearly still there; many of his tracks still feature sitars. This man also loves the funk - just check out his MySpace: he plays the 'funky sitar' in a 'funk band' called 'Motherfunk', he likes 'world funk' and 'Bollywood funky' music.  So be prepared - he might be just too damn funky for some.

Paikan strikes me as a gap year student who took too many drugs while travelling and hasn't got the life-changing experience out of his system yet.

His (creepy) voice begins by telling us that he's just got back from India which was 'so groovy you cannot imagine' with 'clubs, DJs and musicians all over town'. All over town? Whatever next?! He then fuses the worlds of funk, jazz and Bollywood using bass, saxophones and, wait for it - a sitar! Someone get that man a desk job, he's lost the plot! 2/5
