It's 1989, the second summer of love, and one man, a character whose talents would shape the direction of the UK dance scene forever, is just stepping up to his residency at Raindance.
His releases were unique in the early 90s for the simple fact that they gained commercial success; he took the best elements of the burgeoning dance scene, which for the most part scared the great and good of the population, and put them on Top of the Pops and other similar programmes. Radio coverage was huge, and who could be surprised? A tune like 'On a Ragga Tip' wiped the grey disdain off the faces of those out of the loop and the nation broke out into smiles.
His career has been long and varied. Happy Hardcore, Jungle, breaks and house are to name but a few of the genres he was instrumental in establishing in the raver consciousness. Some have morphed into different entities, shadows of their former glory and energy, others are with us today and still strong.
He is currently working on a new sound and genre with fellow old skool legend Billy Bunter: Rave breaks. It's been going down a storm in Ibiza and across the world, and adds yet another string to the big man's bow.
