Californian DJ/producer/label head Steve Aoki has burst into the club scene thanks to hard-hitting house tracks such as 'Warp', a 2009 collaboration with Aussie slammers The Bloody Beetroots.
He joins a school of current artists such as the aforementioned, Boys Noize, MSTRKRFT, D.I.M., Laidback Luke and SebastiAn (to name a few) whose records assault listeners with climax after climax, crescendo after crescendo, and a bass drum that thumps down on your chest like a tonne of bricks. Understandably it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it sure riles up the club kids.
The California native is also the founder and head of record label Dim Mak, on which he's released official remixes for bands like Bloc Party. Businessman and artist rolled into one, the extravagant Aoki is one to watch.
