Vex'd

Jamie Teasdale and Roly Porter, who record together as Vex'd, immediately made an impression both within the nascent dubstep scene and beyond it with their first two 12-inches for the Subtext label.

Since then their roundly acclaimed album for Planet Mu has become one of dubstep's biggest sellers, despite exhibiting an unmissable sonic signature showing up only on the fringes of the genre. The obligatory heavy bass is present and correct, which probably helps; apart from that, distinctive touches include their sharp, razor-edit beats and an industrial atmosphere complete with stark bleeps and grating synth sweeps.
