Andrew McAttee

Genres: Painting, Drawing, Art
If art is going to be intellectually vacuous then it should at least look nice. The large-scale canvasses produced by Andrew McAttee always look incredible. Aesthetically complex and relentlessly bright, this is art at its most totally fabulous.

Huge, infinite worlds of flat or graded colour are filled with delicate bubbles, celestial stars, blobs and swirls and pop-art brush-strokes. A scintillating palette of on-trend acids assaults the retina whilst the works' perspectives keep the focus on the bright skies beyond. Optimistic and fun: McAttee's work is a non-stop visual sugar-rush.

I saw a load of his work at Forster Gallery a few months back. It really is pretty cool - like the best kid's bedroom ever!

Fun and boldly sizzling, but better than, say, Marc Quinn's recent super-bright flower pictures. You can stare at McAttee's work for hours without getting bored - there are so many layers of colour.
