Francesca Lowe is a London-based contemporary artist who works across a variety of media.
She is probably best-known for her collaboration with novelist Alasdair Gray, which was on display at Riflemaker in 2007. 'Terminus' transformed the gallery into a magical but disturbing space, filled with Lowe's twisted large-scale paintings.
Highly influenced by anatomical drawings, her work is characterised by a fusion of the foul and the fascinating; the results are somehow grand and frantic at the same time, with a complex (and occasionally impenetrable) symbolism.
