New Zealand born but living in London, Francis Upritchard is one of the more interesting faces on the contemporary art scene. Her work incorporates installation and sculpture to create pieces that look like something out of the private collection of some weird Victorian obsessive.
Save Yourself features a shoddily made mummy lying on the floor, whilst Sloth sees a kind of mutant human/animal hybrid in an old glass case (a bit like something from Tring Museum). Specializing in faux curios and ersatz artefacts, Uprtchard's work is always interesting and imbued simultaneously with a sense of fun and of fear.
