Henri Chopin was a little-known but highly significant French avant-garde figure Henri Chopin who died in January 2009.
As well as being an experimental composer and sound poet, Chopin was also a painter, designer, typographer and publisher. He made films and produced magazines Cinquième Saison and OU, where he brought together figures like Ian Hamilton Finlay and William Burroughs with artists from Fluxus and Lettrisme.
Chopin was an extremely important figure and a 2009 exhibition at Cubitt went some way to securing his reputation in the UK's popular consciousness.
