Hussein Chalayan
Hussein Chalayan is one of the major figures in the contemporary fashion world, his name synonymous with wacky conceptualism, technological wizardry and unparalleled innovativity.
His best known pieces include, in S/S08, a dress featuring over 200 moving lasers, and, in A/W07, another dress covered in Swarovski crystals and over 15,000 flickering LEDs.
The British/Turkish Cypriot designer was British Designer of the Year in 1999 and 2000, made an MBE in 2006, appointed creative director of Puma in 2008 and in 2009 had a major exhibition dedicated to his career at the Design Museum.
One of this country's all-time design heroes.
