Jeffrey Vallance
It's kind of hard to tell what Jeffrey Vallance is really trying to do: is he simply being very silly? Or is it all actually rather clever?
He has certainly done some peculiar things in the name of art: like burying a piece of chicken in a Californian pet cemetery, interviewing the King of Tonga, studying Christian relics across Italy, chatting to the King of Iceland and setting up a Richard Nixon museum.
Viewing his work is like looking at some kind of elaborate spoof or perhaps the bored doodlings of a precocious child. It's always funny and sort of makes you think for a bit. The potential feeling of po-mo smugness is almost always offset by Vallance's sense of sheer joy. He's also published a book entitled 'Blinky, the Friendly Hen'.
