The post-Olympic urban landscape of East London is the main subject matter for the paintings and drawings of contemporary artist Laura Oldfield Ford. Disaffected youths, abandoned TV sets and assorted detritus fill her works with a sense of transience and alienation.
Laura Oldfield Ford was awarded the Valerie Beston prize in 2007 and had critically acclaimed solo shows at Marlborough Fine Art in 2008 and Hales Gallery in 2009.
Since 2005, Oldfield Ford has been producing a 'zine called Savage Messiah, which incorporates her distinctive drawing technique with '70s punk elements and psychogeoraphic accounts of local communities.
