Unlike the now mega-rich
Damien Hirst, YBA Michael Landy has suffered for his art. His most famous work, 2001's 'Breakdown' involved Landy meticulously documenting all of his possessions (including all of his artwork) and then incinerating them. The artist was left with nothing.
His comeback show over a year later was entitled
Nourishment and was made up of various etchings of weeds produced in the traditional style of botanical art. Apparently the level of detail involved permanently damaged the artist's eyesight. Poor old Landy, but at least he's always doing something a little different.
