Having emerged during the early to mid 90s Peter Doig has risen to prominence as one of Britain's most admired painters. In 2007 he became Europe's most expensive living painter when one of his works sold for £5.7 million.
Peter Doig works initially from photographs to create landscapes with a peculiar sense of mystery and hidden narrative. His work has several recurring themes, including lone figures and canoes. Doig's painterly prowess - his ability to manipulate the medium to highly expressive ends - is practically unsurpassed amongst contemporary artists.
