Rob Carter
When celebrities start getting interested in the work of a particular artist it's not necessarily a good thing. When we heard that photographer Rob Carter had sold works to the likes of Jude Law, Matthew Williamson, Elton John and Kevin Spacey, we feared the usual large-scale portraits of celebs and their pets or something.
But how wrong we were. Carter produces beautiful semi-abstract works. He holds the shutter open for so long that light - and time - seem to smear across the image. There's a recognizably figurative element but blurred to the brink of intangibility.
