Ron Mueck is an acclaimed Australian contemporary artist who produces large-scale hyper-real sculptures, often of a slightly disturbing nature.
Mueck started out making props for films, most notably the film
Labyrinth, featuring David Bowie. He made the transition to contemporary art in 1996, and it wasn't long before Charles Saatchi exhibited
Dead Dad, the piece that would make his name, in the
Sensation exhibition.
Mueck's mother-in-law is
Paula Rego.
