AFI (a.k.a. A Fire Inside) are a Californian four-piece who have reached a certain status within the emo-punk-hard-rock market; they are considered a consistent band whose live shows are passionate and energetic. While not chart-toppers, their career spans eighteen years (eleven with the current line-up) and eight studio albums, including the 2009 release 'Crash Love'.
Lead singer Davey Havok lends the group's sound a maturity that places them above this past decade's spate of bands like Taking Back Sunday and Lostprophets, whose appeal is much more adolescent. At the same time, they create accessible, melodic songs that refrain from slipping into hardcore territory or nu-metal, unlike the similarly-acclaimed Enter Shikari and Alexisonfire.
