Backstreet Boys

Back in the days when boy bands were ten a penny and over on the British Isles we smugly clutched the likes of Boyzone and Take That to our collective bosom, it was inevitable that a force would emanate from over the ocean.

And so it was in 1997 when this manufactured Floridian fivepiece stole in to capture the hearts of young girls the land over with a mix of catchy tunes, slushy ballads and the winning combination of high cheekbones and sharp facial hair.

They only managed a solitary number one single (1999's 'I Want It That Way'), but that hasn't stopped them being remembered by every big brother of the time as a menace.

I never thought I'd give 5 /5 to Backstreet Boys, I'm not a hardcore fan but due to my friends method of persuasion and confusion I found myself accompanying them to the "Unforgettable" tour. Well from library I have a few of the popular hits on compilation cd's, so I walked in with an open mind but also thinking "If they don't play "everybody", i'm want a refund."

From start to finish they were dancing like maniacs, thought their youth ha faded their enthusiasm remained and made every song enjoyable & unique with Rocky intergrations, Gorillaz backings and my favourite moment was when Nick Carter started playing the drums - wow he's not just good looks.

I have since then bought their "invincible" album - I don't care what anyone says, see them live and you'll see what I mean they are not a typical one hit wonder band lie "A1" or "V", however all these solo careers for each individual Backstreet Boy is debatable.

Ah, the Backstreet Boys. I was looking forward to this but I don't know why. Stupid I guess. Back in the day these guys were Gods among boybands: 'Everybody', 'As Long As You Love Me', 'Quit Playing Games'... I could go on.

But it totally makes sense that for this mini-comeback within a comeback they'd adopt a lame vampire motif to suck up to the kids, and a truly atrocious euro-trance beat to prove none of them have ears. Total crap. 0/5
