Formed in London in September 1979 by friends Siobhan Fahey, Sara Dallin, and Keren Woodward, Bananarama went on to have great success throughout the 1980s with hits like Venus, Love in the First Degree, I Heard a Rumour, and the ever-so-slightly ridiculous Robert de Niro's Waitiing. And obviously they've got one of the best names ever.
Their 1983 collaboration with Terry Hall's Fun Boy Three, It'ain't What You Do (It's the Way That You Do It) was their springboard to success, and even after the departure of Fahey and then her replacement Jacquie O'Sullivan they've remained the '80s girl band of choice for discerning power-pop lovers.
