Seattle's Blood Brothers formed a decade ago, inspired by the no-wave punk sound of the 80s and post-hardcore, however their mixing of several genres, often in the same song, make it difficult to pin them down.
Much as Deep Purple pioneered the concept of twin lead guitars in the 70s to give themselves a metal edge, these guys were the first of the post-Nirvana hardcore rock groups to distinguish themselves with two lead vocalists. Crucially, the singers alternate between singing and high-pitched screaming.
As kings of the screamo movement, Blood Brothers have been influential on a number of the so-called new rave acts to have emerged in recent years.
