Starting out in 1993, the band fused Def Leppard's loud and tuneful metal with Bruce Springsteen's working class hero rock, meeting commercial success almost straight away. By cunningly hiring professional songwriters to give their sound a more polished sheen, they went on to dominate the rock scene of the mid to late 80s.
Experiments in country and southern rock followed, until the band settled on a considered college rock sound which they have used pump out albums right up to the present day.
