Calvin Harris
Dumfries-based producer and creator of electro music, he made his breakthrough in early 2007 with the catchy number 10 hit single 'Acceptable in the 80s'.
Highlights since breaking through have included producing tracks for Kylie, supporting Faithless on tour and storming dozens of festivals over the last few summers.
Harris's sardonic take on pop dance culture, combining a cynical packaged approach and some reliable, not to say predictable block-rocking beats, has influenced a lot of wannabes in the same way as Mylo inspired a fair few imitators. But he's not that bad!

No, Calvin! It's not that this tune is actually bad. It's just that it sounds exactly like the kind of thing you were pumping out in 2006. In the intervening years, we've been treated to a fair amount of great music – weren't you listening?!
Maybe it's a deliberate throwback. There's a haunting, original quality to the vocal and the four-to-the-floor dance underlay is amusingly retro pumping yah! If you were already out of it, this might keep you moving... 2.5/5
