Cold War Kids burst into the musical consciousness on these shores at the beginning of 2007 with the infectious slab of booze blues 'We Used to Vacation', having already broken through in their homeland.
The Californians quickly went from closely guarded cult secret to next big thing status via some triumphant shows at KoKo and Proud Galleries, the latter of which hit the tabloids after it was stopped early, sending the likes of Kate Moss, Alex Turner and Peaches Geldof home at the pedestrian time of midnight.
Debut album 'Robbers and Cowards' is one of the underrated gems of 2007, and with more shows booked and new material being written, their piano driven indie-blues topped off by Nathan Willett's bittersweet tones, should see their stock rise further.
